Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated  Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by  8 wickets in the 27th match of IPL this season at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on April 28, 2018, night, riding on  an unbeaten 33 ball 56 with 6 fours and 2 sixes by  captain Rohit Sharma and 47 in 43 ball with 3 fours and 2 sixes by opener Evin Lewis, whose opening partner Suryakumar Yadav also scored 44 runs in 34 balls with 5 fours and a six. Hardik Pandya remained not out on 13 in 8 balls with a six.

Mumbai Indians won the toss but elected to bowl first. CSK scored 169/5 in 20 overs riding on an unbeaten 75 in 47 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes by Suresh Raina and  46 in 35 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes by opener Ambati Rayudu. CSK captain M S Dhoni scored 26 with 3 fours and a six.

Defending champion MI made 170/2 in 19.4 overs registering only their second win in 7 matches this season. Sharma hit CSK pacer Shardul Thakur for 4 fours in the 19th over.
