Patna: In  a case of suspected honour killing, body of a youth Veerchandra Tahkur was recovered from a field at village Sharma under Mahua police station in Vaishali district on December 22. Agitated over the murder of the youth, a large nnumber of people created a scene in front of Mahua police station and also attacked the house of the accused at village Bhagwatpur.

Police said that Veerchandra, a native of village Bhagwatpur Taraura, was having an affair with a girl of another community of village Sharma. The youth had visited village Sharma on December 21 night and later on Thursday, and his body was recovered from a field close to the house of his girl freind.

As the news of recovery of body reached the deceased’s village, a large number of people created a scene in front of Mahua police station and also attacked the house of the girl and damaged the property. On getting information, local police reached the spot and tried to pacify the people. The locals pelted cops with stones causing injuries to two of them.

Later in the day, reinforcement from different police stations including Mahua, Patepur and Baligaon police station reached there. Mahua SDPO Anant Kumar, DM Rachna Patil and SP Rakesh Kumar also reached there. Police later detained the girl and her father Mohd. Mumtaz in this connection. The body was later sent to Sadar hospital, ainedHajipur, after pacifying the mob. Vaishali SP Rakesh Kumar said that the killing is fallout of love affair. He said that the girl and her father have been detained in this connection.
